If you can smell natural gas in your home and you have a natural gas oven, it is important to call in an experienced technician to ensure it is properly fixed. The first step is to shutoff the natural gas to your oven. First, locate the gas valve handle and give it a quarter turn until the gas turns off. When it is properly in the OFF position, the handle will be perpendicular to the direction of your gas pipe. To verify it is turned off, turn on one of the burners. If you want to unplug the oven from power, ensure that you no longer can smell gas before doing so.
